Common Account Questions

How do I enroll in the RBC Rewards™ programme?

When you open an RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card you are automatically enrolled in the programme. Once you register, you will be able to view your point balance and transaction history, browse rewards, and redeem for rewards.

Do I have to pay a fee to participate in the RBC Rewards™ programme?

No, there is no additional charge to participate in the rewards programme.

How do I get an online profile?

Simply go here to register for your RBC Rewards™ account. You will be asked to select your own username and password for the programme for all future access.

Who is authorised to contact the RBC Rewards™ call centre or set up an RBC Rewards™ online profile?

All primary cardholders of the RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card account are automatically authorised access to the RBC Rewards™ call centre or to create a personal profile online. Any co-applicant or additional cardholders on the account must first be authorised by the primary cardholder to access the RBC Rewards™ account before they can set up an online profile.

I am the primary cardholder of the RBC Reward™ Visa Platinum card, how do I authorise my co-applicant and additional cardholders to get access to my RBC Rewards™ account (online or via the call centre)?

Personal Cardholders:
The primary cardholder must authorise the co-applicant or additional cardholders by designating each cardholder as a "Redeemer." This can be completed online through the primary cardholder's profile or by calling the RBC Rewards™ call centre. Simply select each cardholder who can have access to the account and redeem from the RBC Rewards™ points programme. Once a co-applicant/additional cardholder has been authorised as a "Redeemer," each cardholder may create their own online profile or contact the RBC Rewards™ call centre.

Business Cardholders:
The primary cardholder (business owner) must authorise the co-applicant or additional cardholders by designating each cardholder as a "Redeemer" on the application form (for new RBC Rewards™ accounts) or maintenance form (for existing RBC Rewards™ accounts). This must be completed by the Account Manager at your local branch/banking centre. Indicate on the form which cardholder will be a "Redeemer" to have access to or to redeem from the RBC Rewards™ points programme. Otherwise, any cardholder identified as a "Non-Redeemer" will not have access to the RBC Rewards™ programme. Once a co-applicant/additional cardholder has been authorised as a "Redeemer," they may create their own online profile or contact the RBC Rewards™ call centre.

I have forgotten my username or password. What do I do?
Simply click here to fill out our forgotten password form and your password and username will be emailed to you. If you would prefer, you may call an RBC Rewards™ Customer Service Representative at the numbers below and select "RBC Rewards":

Which transactions will I be able to view on the programme website?

You may view your account history, reward redemption history, and point history in your account profile. Additionally, if you have chosen to pool your points with other RBC Rewards™ accounts, you will be able to view the point totals for each member of the pool, the grand total of all the points available in the pool, and all points redeemed by the pool. You will not be able to view individual credit card transactions for any member of the pool besides yourself.

What are householded accounts?

Householding refers to the structure of your RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card account. All co-applicant and additional cardholders are automatically linked to the primary cardholder. This means that all points are totaled and managed as one RBC Rewards™ account. All net-purchase transactions from all cardholders on the account will be posted to one RBC Rewards™ account, no matter who completed the transaction.

For both personal and business accounts, the primary cardholder must authorise "Redeemer" rights for each co-applicant/additional cardholder to access the RBC Rewards™ account.

For personal accounts: Redeemer authorization may be completed online via the rewards site or through the RBC Rewards™ call centre.

For business accounts: Redeemer authorizations must be completed through an Account Manager at your local RBC branch.

In addition, primary cardholders in Trinidad and Tobago with multiple RBC Rewards accounts assigned to the same Customer Identification Number may view and access such accounts online by the Primary Cardholder within one Master Account View. Any authorised cardholders on an account are able to view only one account at a time, even if an authorised cardholder is assigned to multiple accounts.

Rewards Questions

What type of rewards are available?

RBC Rewards™ offers a wide variety of rewards including free and discounted travel (airline tickets, car rentals, hotel stays, cruise and tour packages), e-gift cards, tickets to select sporting events and other experiential rewards. You can also redeem for a statement credit to cover the cost of an eligible purchase you've made using your RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card. Visit My Way Rewards to learn more about redeeming for a travel purchase, or My Way Shopping to learn more about redeeming for a dining, grocery, retail or home improvement purchase. Visit the rewards catalog for a complete listing of all of the rewards that the programme has to offer. Plus, from time to time we will offer special rewards for a limited time and with limited availability. These rewards will be promoted online, so be sure to visit the rewards programme site often.

Do I have to earn a lot of points to see the benefit of the RBC Rewards™ programme?

Absolutely not. We have many customers who are able to redeem their points right away for rewards. Rewards start at just 1,500 points.

When may I redeem my points for a reward?

As soon as the points show up in your account you may use them to redeem rewards. Points will be calculated Tuesday through Saturday, except holidays, and will post two business days after the transaction has been posted to your credit card account. Points earned on all other days will post within 72 to 96 hours.

How long will it take to earn enough points to redeem for rewards?

This is dependent on the reward that you are interested in. We have a wide variety of rewards that vary in point value, including travel options, e-gift cards, unique experiences, and more. Rewards begin at 1,500 points.

Don't forget, you earn 1 point for every net retail US dollar you spend with your RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card so your points can accrue quickly by frequently making purchases with your card.

And, if you pool your points with other family members in the RBC Rewards™ programme, you'll earn points even faster. Although it's important to remember that when you "pool" your account with others, your points become available to everyone in your pool.

What type of travel rewards do you offer?
RBC Rewards™ offers the most innovative travel rewards available in any rewards programme. Rewards members can choose from two types of travel rewards: My Way Rewards and Traditional Travel.

My Way Rewards

We know how much our customers appreciate earning a travel reward that doesn't come with restrictions, fees and other caveats, so RBC Rewards™ has introduced My Way Rewards.

My Way Rewards lets you choose where you want to go, when you want to travel, what travel supplier you want to book with and, better yet, you can book through any accredited travel agency of your choosing. This may include online travel agencies like our own RBC Rewards™ website/call centre or popular travel booking sites like Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, Hotels.com and more. You may also book directly through your preferred airline, hotel or car rental supplier. Or, you may work with a traditional travel agency that will serve your needs.

You can redeem points for the entire transaction or a partial amount, as long as you have enough points in your account at the time you request a statement credit. You also don't have to worry about all the restrictions that many other programmes offer. There are no seat restrictions, no class restrictions, no blackout periods and you may even include your travel taxes and airline fees up to the value of the points available for you to redeem.

Note: other taxes including, but not limited to, APT taxes and stamp taxes are charged to the account separately and may not be included in the reward credit.

My Way Rewards involves an easy 3-step process:

1. Book your airline ticket, hotel stay, car rental, cruise or tour package with your RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card just as you would if you were paying for the trip rather than redeeming points.
2. Wait for the transaction to post to your RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card account (normally within 72 hours).
3. Request the statement credit for your transaction(s) either by visiting the programme website or calling an RBC Rewards™ Customer Service Representative at the appropriate numbers below and selecting "RBC Rewards":

Traditional Travel

Additionally, we offer Traditional Travel rewards that you may access online or by calling a Customer Service Representative. We have an online travel portal that allows you to book your trip in one step and points will be deducted from your account immediately rather than having to call to request a statement credit.

What is My Way Shopping?

My Way Shopping lets you choose what you want to redeem for. Make a grocery, home improvement, retail or restaurant purchase using your RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card and redeem points to cover the cost of that purchase. Learn more about what purchases may be available to redeem for, and how many points it takes to redeem.

Redemption for a statement credit does not replace the minimum payment on your account and can only be redeemed against a posted transaction. You must therefore always make your minimum payment regardless of the value of your My Way Shopping transaction credit in order to ensure that your account is in good standing and not past due.

Once redeemed, points for cancelled or refunded rewards may not be instated to your RBC Rewards™ account.

Posted transactions may take up to 7 days to appear on the website. Additionally, it may take up to 7 days for a credit to be processed to the account for all statement credit redemptions.

My Way Shopping involves an easy 4-step process:
STEP 1: Shop where you want to shop, pay for it using your RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card or RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Business Credit Card.

STEP 2: When the charge posts to your RBC Rewards™Visa Platinum or your RBC Rewards™Visa Platinum Business account, redeem your points for the cost of the item by selecting Purchase Transaction on the My Way Shopping statement page or by contacting an RBC Rewards Customer Service Representative.

STEP 3: If redeeming online, you will be asked to confirm the statement credit transaction by clicking the Submit button.

STEP 4: Print the confirmation for your records. Note: it will take up to 24 hours for your statement credit to appear on your banking statement.

Is shopping with my reward points online safe and secure? How will my card number and points balance be protected?

Just like all other online transactions you may make with your RBC Visa Platinum Rewards Credit Card, we have gone to great lengths to ensure your confidentiality and security. We use several layers of robust security methods to ensure your personal and financial information is kept private and confidential.

How do I cancel e-gift cards, exclusive rewards certificates or travel rewards?

Unfortunately, once redeemed for a reward, your e-gift cards, exclusive rewards certificates or travel rewards cannot be cancelled or exchanged. In addition, any changes to travel bookings will be subject to the cancellation fees, restrictions and penalties applied by the travel supplier/airline.

Are there any restrictions on the e-gift cards, exclusive rewards certificates or travel rewards offered through the programme?
Any restriction on a specific e-gift card/exclusive rewards certificate/travel reward are included in the programme rules. Retailers have the right to restrict usage and participation by retailers are subject to change.

If I start to redeem for rewards but don't complete the transaction, do I have to start over the next time I log in to the RBC Rewards™ website?

No, the next time you log in, your cart will contain the same items that you had when you were there last. This convenience will allow you to browse and shop for your rewards without having to complete the transaction all at once. You may also add items to your Wish List directly from the awards online catalog or from your shopping cart. This allows you to monitor your progress towards earning enough points for the award or simply just come back later to redeem it.

I have just redeemed points for a reward. When should I expect to receive my reward?

E-Gift Cards will be sent to the email address on record for your RBC Rewards™ online profile and should be delivered within 24-48 hours of redemption. . However, please note if you change your email address on record prior to redeeming for an e-gift card a customer service agent will contact you within 72 hours to confirm the new email address. Once the new email address has been confirmed the e-gift card will be processed.

Points Questions

How do I earn points?

RBC Rewards™ customers will automatically earn points for every purchase on your RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum credit card.

There is no limit to the number of points that you are able to earn. In the RBC Rewards™ programme, customers will earn 1 point for each $1.00 USD or local currency equivalent you charge on net purchases. Pooling Questions

Can my points be pooled/combined with other RBC Rewards™ accounts?

One of the unique benefits of the RBC Rewards™ programme is that personal and business cardholders may combine or "pool" the points earned from their other RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card account(s) to earn points faster. There is no limit to the number of cardholders that you may pool your account(s) with, so you may earn the rewards that you've always dreamed of much faster than you may have ever imagined. However, you can belong to only one pool at a time.

Personal Cardholders

In addition to combining points from their own RBC Rewards™ accounts, personal cardholders may also pool their points with family members who have RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum personal accounts or with their business account. The primary cardholder and any cardholder authorised as a "Redeemer" on the RBC Rewards™ accounts may set up a pool.

This pool/householding functionality is available on all RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Cards and there is no limit to the number of cardholders or accounts that may be pooled. In addition, there are no logistical constraints (same last name, street number, etc.) required to pool accounts. All requests for rewards pooling on personal accounts, even the cardholder combining their own RBC Rewards® Visa Platinum Credit Card accounts, must be invited and choose to accept to join the pool. The invitations and acceptance must be completed online and only once the cardholder has created a personal profile using the appropriate security validation and accepted the terms and conditions of setting up a pool.

All personal cardholders participating in the rewards pool will have access to view detailed transaction and point information on their own personal accounts. Pooled members will only see their own detailed transaction history, whereas available pooled points will be displayed as an aggregate.

Business Cardholders

RBC Rewards™ business cardholders may also combine or "pool" the points earned from their other RBC Rewards™ business or personal credit card accounts.

An Account Manager at your local branch will assist with this programme feature. Only the primary cardholder (business owner) is permitted to set up a pool and only through their RBC Representative or Account Manager at their local branch.

How do I join a pool?

Personal Cardholders

To join a pool with another RBC Rewards™ account you must be invited to join a pool by another RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum cardholder. An electronic invitation will be sent to you by the cardholder providing you with additional information and an option to accept or decline the invitation. If you choose to accept the invitation, you will register your RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card(s) to participate. Due to security reasons, you are only able to register one RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card per invitation. However, once you have entered a pool, you may send an invitation to yourself to add another of your own RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card accounts to the pool. Pooling setup/acceptance is only available online.

Business Cardholders

Only the primary cardholder (business owner) is permitted to set up a pool with their other RBC Rewards™ Visa Platinum Credit Card accounts. This must be set up through their RBC Representative or Account Manager at their local branch.

I am a personal cardholder, what do you mean that I may "send an invitation" to myself to join a pool?

Security is a primary concern for RBC. It is with security in mind that we created additional requirements to ensure all accounts that are part of a pool are authorised individually before being combined. This means that you may add as many of your credit cards to a single pool as you'd like, but you will need to send an invitation, or have another pool member send you an invitation, for each of the personal accounts that you would like to pool. While we understand this requires some additional work on the part of our customers, we hope you will appreciate the added level of security that we have incorporated.

Why would I join a pool if I lose control over the points that I earned?
Joining a pool will not be the right choice for all of our customers. However, many customers will love the opportunity to earn rewards even faster. By combining multiple accounts, the pool will have a greater chance to redeem for higher point level rewards even faster. The opportunities are endless.

For personal cardholders, pooling would be an excellent option for:

  • Families wanting to take a dream vacation.
  • A community group that wants to purchase larger items for their school, church or neighbourhood.
  • An organization that is interested in redeeming to furnish a meeting room or other need.

For business cardholders, it provides the opportunity to combine/pool points into one RBC Rewards™ account even if the business must open several RBC Rewards™ Visa Business Platinum Credit Card accounts for operational purposes.
Since points expire on a first come, first serve basis, how does that work with pooling?

Regardless of whether you are accumulating points individually or as part of a pool, all points are combined into one centralised pool for redemption. The oldest points (first points that you earn) will be the first points that are resigned when you redeem for a reward. In a pool, all points are combined regardless of who earned them. For example, if a member of the pool redeems for an e-gift card/exclusive rewards certificate valued at 5,500 points, the allocation of points could potentially come from each member of the pool based on when they were originally earned (all points are automatically date and time stamped).

May I leave the pool that I am part of?

Personal Cardholders

Any personal cardholders who choose to leave an RBC Rewards™ pool will simply request to be "unlinked." Any rewards pool member may leave the pool at any time and without notice. If you choose to voluntarily close your entire account, you will not receive a proactive reminder to redeem your points. Once your account is closed, all your points will be surrendered and deducted from the rewards pool. If you are not closing an account, but unlinking from the pool, you will retain your individual remaining point balance. For example, if three individuals pool their personal accounts and one customer decided to leave the pool, the account is unlinked and the individual's earned points are transferred to the individual's new RBC Rewards™ personal account. You may now choose to earn and redeem points only within your own household or join a separate pool.

Business Cardholders

Business cardholders who choose to "un-pool" their RBC Rewards™ Visa Business Platinum credit card accounts must do so through their RBC Representative or Account Manager at their local branch at the request of the primary cardholder (business owner) only.

How will I know if other members of my pool invite other RBC Rewards™ personal card customers to join our pool?

You will receive an email notification if any member of your pool invites another member to join. Although you will not have an opportunity to block inviting this new pool member, you certainly may leave the pool if you are not in agreement with the decision to add a new member to your pool.

I am a business cardholder. What do you mean that only the primary cardholder (business owner) is permitted to set up a pool and only through their RBC Representative or Account Manager at your local branch?

Security is a primary concern for RBC. It is with security in mind that we created additional requirements to ensure all accounts that are part of a pool are part of the same business and appropriately authorised by the owner of the business account(s). While we understand this requires some additional work on the part of our customers and Account Managers, we hope you will appreciate the added level of security that we have incorporated.

I am an owner of an RBC Rewards™ Visa Business Platinum account and would like to assign points from my other employee accounts to my account. How do I do this?

An RBC Rewards™ Visa Business Platinum Credit Card account is automatically householded, which means all co-applicant and additional cardholders on the business account are automatically combined/linked to the primary cardholder. Points earned from all of the cardholders are assigned to one RBC Rewards™ account. This is automatically created at the time of account and card setup. For business accounts, the primary cardholder will have access to view and redeem points from the RBC Rewards™ account. All other cardholders will not access, or be able to view or redeem points until authorised by the primary cardholder (business owner). An RBC Representative or Account Manager will assist the primary cardholder with authorisations for co-applicants or additional cardholders.

In addition, Business Owner(s) (Primary Cardholders) in Trinidad and Tobago with multiple RBC Rewards™ accounts assigned to the same Customer Identification Number may view and access such accounts online by the Primary Cardholder within one Master Account View. Any authorised cardholders on an account are able to view only one account at a time, even if an authorised cardholder is assigned to multiple accounts.
